Getting the Waupaca County list

We found no list of tax-sale proceeds owed to former owners on the Waupaca County website. Ask the Waupaca County Treasurer which tax-deeded parcels sold for more than the taxes owed and whose net proceeds are still unpaid (a public record request under Wis. Stat. 19.35). Since 2022 a Wisconsin county that sells tax-deeded land must pay the former owner the net proceeds (sale price less costs and the taxes owed); the county mails a notice, and money unclaimed for a year becomes county unclaimed funds under Wis. Stat. 59.66(2), advertised by the Treasurer, which the owner can still claim. Surplus from a sheriff's mortgage-foreclosure sale is held by the Waupaca County Clerk of Circuit Court in the foreclosure case and is paid out on a court order.
