Getting the Grant County list

Grant County posts no surplus list. Ask the Grant County Clerk of the District Court which tax-certificate or mortgage foreclosure cases hold excess sale proceeds (or search the case on Nebraska JUSTICE), then file an application for the funds in that case. Since LB 727 (2023) a tax certificate holder may take a treasurer's tax deed only when the owner's equity is $25,000 or less; otherwise the certificate must be foreclosed in district court (Neb. Rev. Stat. 77-1837, 77-1902), and sale proceeds above the taxes, interest and costs are paid into that court for the former owner.
