Getting the Hall County list

Hall County posts Sheriff's sale notices in its document archive but no surplus list. Ask the Hall County Clerk of the District Court (Grand Island, 308-385-5144) which foreclosure cases hold excess proceeds; public records can be viewed and copied at the courthouse for a fee. Since LB 727 (2023) a tax certificate holder may take a treasurer's tax deed only when the owner's equity is $25,000 or less; otherwise the certificate must be foreclosed in district court (Neb. Rev. Stat. 77-1837, 77-1902), and sale proceeds above the taxes, interest and costs are paid into that court for the former owner.
