Morrill County surplus funds list
Nebraska · unclaimed money left over from tax deed and foreclosure sales.
Getting the Morrill County list
Morrill County posts no surplus list. Ask the Morrill County Clerk of the District Court which tax-certificate or mortgage foreclosure cases hold excess sale proceeds (or search the case on Nebraska JUSTICE), then file an application for the funds in that case. Since LB 727 (2023) a tax certificate holder may take a treasurer's tax deed only when the owner's equity is $25,000 or less; otherwise the certificate must be foreclosed in district court (Neb. Rev. Stat. 77-1837, 77-1902), and sale proceeds above the taxes, interest and costs are paid into that court for the former owner.
