Getting the Providence County list

Providence County has no county government; tax sales are held by each city or town (Providence, Cranston, Pawtucket, East Providence, Woonsocket, North Providence, Johnston, Cumberland, Lincoln, Smithfield, North Smithfield, Burrillville, Glocester, Scituate, Foster and Central Falls). None publishes a list of tax sale surplus. Ask the tax collector of the town where the property is for sales whose bid exceeded the taxes owed and for any surplus it holds (an Access to Public Records Act request, RIGL 38-2), and check the Superior Court petition-to-foreclose case for the property. Unclaimed money ends up with the RI General Treasurer's unclaimed property program.
